Yunnan Pu-erh tea is considered the very best of this type of tea from China. Pu-erh tea was exclusive within China for many centuries. It gets its name from the town where teas were traded for many years. Believed to have many health benefits this tea has become more and more popular in the western world particularly as some celebrities have extolled its virtues.
That aside the pu-erh teas are earthy,woody and taste mature. They are said to be a good aid to digestion and gentle on the stomach.
Traditionally teas were stored underground for long periods and this tea was prized and saved for the upper classes. Over the last few years new techniques have been developed to produce Pu-erh teas so they are now equally as good although now available to all.
A distinctive and tea well worth trying by those who like some body to their tea.
